Isolation Day 3 – Insurance

March 16, 2023

Day 18

Dad’s 4 Year passing.

08:30

No alarm as wanted to get extra sleep due to a restless night of not feeling well.  Woke up by a nurse taking my breakfast order, as the night nurse did not take it.

08:45

Breakfast – Rice Krispies, Apple Juice, Bacon and Toast (made bacon sandwich).

Was feeling slightly better this morning, possibly due to the amount I have been resting, reading and sleeping.

Have appetite back and ate all the breakfast which made me feel a bit better.

3 more peers are now in Isolation.

Total of 5 (7 in total since arriving).

09:20

The nurse came with paracetamol and antihistamine and also got E45 itch relief cream.  Rash on my arms and legs starting to go, but still very itchy at random times.

Slowly getting through the AA book, now finished chapter 5; How It Works.

I am gaining more of an understanding of the AA programme and fellowship.

Only at the early stages as nearly completed Step 1, but I am determined to complete all 12 steps (as much as I can in rehab, then start again on outside recovery), and live a sober life, whilst also putting my step knowledge into my everyday affairs.

Feel much better today and nearly back to health, still feel like I have a cold though.

As I have accepted I am in isolation, I don’t feel agitated or removed from the community at all.  I am literally just taking one day at a time.

Some self-reflection this morning and realised that my willpower is stronger than I thought, I aim to continue this when out of the castle and back home again.  I haven’t had any ‘little things’ play on my head, everything has its own path and will work itself out in time.

Hopefully hear from my therapist today, if not, I will see him when out of isolation.

12:00

My legs and sides were itchy again, so had a cold shower and applied the E45 cream.  Already feeling the itching calm down and the rash is going away, making me feel better.  Still have a runny nose but no cold shivers anymore.

Lunch – Salmon Bagel and Soup.  My full appetite is back so ate all of it.

Read more of the AA book and rest to try and get the last of the virus out of me.

Some issues trying to communicate with the therapist as the internet is not working so the iPad provided by the nurses cant connect.

13:30

A member of aftercare spoke with me, as my therapist was not available, and provided her with my insurance details for the extension and aftercare process to be started.  Then once sent to the insurance, I can contact them for the authorisation codes.

14:30

The nurse came up with eye drops for my eye to help reduce the infection due to being run down.  Needs to be kept in the fridge, so they will visit 4 times a day until I am out of isolation, and then I will need to visit the nurse’s office.

On/off sleep reading the AA book.

16:00

The aftercare staff member has sent the emails and provided me with my phone so I can call my insurance.

Long wait time on the phone! 50-minute call!

The insurance is now saying it will take 48 hours to process and make a decision.

Need to call the insurance on Saturday for an update.  The aftercare member of staff has authorised me to get my phone on Saturday.

17:15

Dinner – Beef Steak, Potatoes and veg.

Eaten everything as was really hungry.

Eye drops in my left eye and some paracetamol, just to keep my temperature down and under control.  Feels like a mild cold now with nothing more than itchiness now and then.  E45 cream is working and calms this down.
