Day 23.
The first lecture was on ‘Why do our brains get addicted?’. I found this interesting, it went into talking about dopamine and triggers. It made me want to look more into what my triggers are, and how to deal with them.
Group therapy was a good session, where I felt I could open up about my opinions. Another peer had previously shared and expanded on this share today. I could relate to this peer and shared my related opinion, and expressed how they need to open up more in the group. It felt good to nicely help another peer in realising that they are holding back and not fully opening up, and this may possibly hamper their recovery.
I really enjoyed the mindfulness session today and want to find out more about meditation. Over my remaining time in the castle, I feel I want to learn about meditation and put it into action every day, every morning when I start the day, and every evening before I go to bed. I find it very relaxing and can see the benefits of having a clean and relaxed mind.
The AA book reading was also interesting. We discussed chapter 6 ‘Into action’, and how important it is to make sure the first 6 steps are thought through fully and applied in order to successfully move onto step 7 and forward.
Meditate more and clear the mind.
