It has been a good day today. Nice weather, work went well, and finally got my glasses sorted.
A while ago, whilst drunk, I fell and broke my glasses, basically the legs fell off them and I managed to temp fix them. Then one day when taking them off as I stepped out the car, the left leg fell off and down a drain. I had always put off going to get new ones and had been wearing them broken with only the right leg on for ages.
I mostly wear contacts, but recently I have found them to be irritating my eyes, and I thought I had scratched my eye with them, so have been having a break from them by wearing the broken glasses.
So this morning after my glasses fell into my cup of coffee, I decided enough was enough.
I went to a local independent optition today, rather than a big chain one that I have been going to. Turns out this was the right choice. My prescription was slightly wrong, the service was efficient (after walking in off the street, they gave me an appointment for one hour later) and the advice I received from them was amazing. I got told why my eyes had been drying out so much and how to care for them to help prevent it. At some point, I need to go back for a contact eye exam to sort out the contacts. Staying with the independent from now on.
Gratitude
At first I was a little apprehensive in launching this website, as it is a true daily reflection of my life in recovery, for which I am writing as ‘anonymous’.
I am grateful for the support that everyone has shown me today, all the positivity and inspiring messages, and I feel confident that my anonymity can remain.
It is my hope that this website will help other alcoholics the way it is helping me to remain sober, and I have a few more improvements planned for this website.
One day at a time
