Woke up naturally at about 5 AM, decided I was awake and not to try to get to sleep again, as I probably would not wake up till after 6 am.

Started the morning with a bit of meditation and breathing, then had to visit a client for work. I wasn’t planning on starting work until later on, but it was important that I went to see this client, so I just adjusted my morning to compensate. The client was pleased that I came at short notice and resolved the issue, giving me a sense of achievement.

Work went well, added another client. I am feeling more myself again in the job, and have noticed a massive difference in the way I do the job. Now I don’t have the effects of alcohol, such as the grogginess in the morning and my thinking has become a lot sharper. I also think I have become a lot more competent in my job again since sobriety.

Higher power AA meeting – shared about my higher power is God and my dad. Also told the story of the isolation day in the castle with the jacket and alarm clock incident. In short, a nurse brought a bag to my room. I looked in the bag, for which there was a jacket and alarm clock in it. I told the nurse that I did not recognise either of these and they were not for me. She said there was a note on the bag, which read – ‘Anonymous, jacket and alarm clock, from your Father’. I told the nurse it definitely was not for me, for which she looked highly confused as there was no one else at the castle with even my surname. I told the nurse it could not be for me – ‘my father passed away 4 years ago to the day that you came up with the bag’. Full story: Isolation Day 3 – Higher Power

Ended with a chilled evening, home-cooked burger and film as discounted film nights to buy.
