April Fool & Sharing

April 1, 2023

Day 34.

6.30 wake up on a Saturday!

A nice fresh start to the day, woke up relaxed and ready for a slightly more chilled day.

Spent the morning sorting out the cups (some needed a deep clean) as I realised the dishwasher was not working properly, and tidied up the dining area.

In the morning reflection, one of the community leaders decided to play an April Fool joke on the community.  They said someone important was coming to the castle and everywhere had to be really tidy.  The peer let me in on the joke whilst we were both cleaning the entrance and hallway to the castle.

The entrance looked so much better and I had a feeling of self-achievement after doing that and the kitchen clean.

The rest of the day was chilled, starting with Step 4.  Played the quiz in the evening and watched a film.

Towards the end of the evening, the peer that I was buddying, opened up and shared their life with me leading up to coming into the castle.  The peer shared with me for over an hour and a half and went very deep.  I just sat there and listened, not saying anything.

I shared some of my life too when the peer finished sharing, and then the peer told me that they have never shared any of this with anyone before.

I felt very privileged and expressed this back to the peer.  The peer said how they felt better now they have opened up, and over time, when ready will share with other peers.

Sharing is caring.  It’s good to talk!
