Early start at work today dealing with some clients that are best suited to see in the mornings. Another good day at work with really nice weather. Loneliness is getting a bit more and missing my colleague, but they will be back working next week, so looking forward to finding out about the holiday and catching up.
My fellow peers from rehab have booked their flights and travel!
I am really happy and excited to see them again. They are both staying for a small period, one a week and the other two weeks. Lots of good memories ahead. Now just need to think of places to go, meetings we can attend together, things to do, and in a few weeks, get the house ready for them. I can’t wait to see them both, they have been there from the start of my recovery journey and are now part of it for the future. Long may this continue!
The evening psychoeducational session was interesting, the new topic is Anger. As we started the topic and went through part 1, it was interesting to learn that anger can be withheld or expressed and often leads to resentment, which is the number one offender in causing a relapse. Managing anger is also part of building a successful recovery by changing destructive behaviour into healthy coping skills.
I don’t feel like I am an angry person, but when looking at the signs of anger, I realized that I am probably not aware of my anger and how it is influencing how I behave. I recognized my warning signs include; my mind going blank, pacing around, crying, can’t stop thinking about the problem, and going quiet and ‘shut down’.
There are some questions to answer before the session next week, so it will be interesting to see how I feel about anger in part 2.
Another peer is now finished with the sessions, so at the end of the session, I said my goodbyes and wished them all the best.
Good times are ahead, plan, don’t become complacent, and answer the anger questions!
