Not long now, but recovery does not have a holiday!

June 20, 2023

It feels fantastic to be naturally waking up at about 5.30/6 am every morning, your day feels much fuller, and you feel fresher throughout the day.

Another busy morning working on some of the projects and this website, then getting the house ready for my guests, and a good day at work.

The reunion is on Sunday, I am looking forward to it and catching up with many fellows, some of who I was in the castle with and others who have been within the past 35 years.  It will be exciting and inspiring to hear people’s stories and how they are managing recovery.

Not long now, 2 days, until the first of my guests arrive, and I am excited and looking forward to seeing them, the weekend reunion and the further week ahead.

My second guest arrives on Saturday morning, and plans have been made for a group of fellows to meet on Saturday evening for a meal.  These fellows I have spent time in the castle with, so I can’t wait to catch up with them all and share stories from ‘outside the bubble’.

I have taken a week off work from Thursday, and when I have both guests settled, we will make some plans for an amazing week.

Due to picking up my first guest on Thursday evening, I am not going to be able to attend my home AA group, however, there is a meeting on Friday, so hopefully, my guest will want to come with me too.  We will also need to plan between us to see what meetings we are attending, either together or separately, over the time they are staying.

It may feel like a holiday with time off work and guests staying, but recovery does not stop.

I must not become complacent and attend meetings.  Recovery does not have a holiday!
