Share to stay sober

May 22, 2023

Just a normal morning of MODAAT and the project, posting some more stock.  The morning routine is fully set now.

It was good weather today and work went well, just a standard day of visiting clients.  Far too many road works, accidents, and traffic today, so just took it as it was and did not get stressed about it.  Some things we can’t control.

The AA thought of the day, from the Twenty-Four hours a day, had me thinking all day;

‘Do I know that the more I share, the better chance I’ll have to stay sober?’

This made me think about what I do in my daily affairs and not just at AA meetings.

In the AA meetings, we tell our own experiences, without holding back, and by doing so we help other people, as we are all in the same place.  I find that I get a lot from sharing and listening to fellow alcoholics in these AA meetings.  Also understanding how they have dealt with situations and experiences, makes me think about how I can handle my affairs better.

In my daily affairs outwith AA meetings, I find that I am always sharing with family and friends how I am doing on a daily basis.  This I also find comforting as they help provide me with positivity and guidance in my daily affairs.  It is also nice for them to know that I am doing well and not returning to my old ways.  I also find, that when I share about my addiction to friends, it opens up conversation on themselves, which may in turn help them to keep control of their drinking.  They already have control as they are not alcoholics, but talking about it keeps it present in the mind.

Every evening, writing this daily reflection, also helps me share my day (to the world) and to continue to remain sober.

I am grateful for my family and friends being by my side in my recovery.

I feel that sharing daily is helping me to remain on the path of sobriety.
