The morning was chilled, due to having a busy few days. Looking at the weather for the next few days, it would probably be the last sunny day before one of my guests had to get their flight back home. Due to this, I decided today was the best day to take them to North Berwick and Portobello Beach.
North Berwick, as always, is amazing. The beach, the small town and the scenery. The weather started nice and sunny, but typical Scotland had its way, and on came a massive downpour. We were at the harbour taking photos, so mixed with the high winds, we all got soaked whilst trying to find shelter. Then the weather turned sunny again for the rest of the day, typical. As this was one of my fellow’s first time in Scotland, after some window shopping, we had a Greggs, as this fellow has never tried a Greggs before. The Chicken Bake certainly did not disappoint.
After spending some time in North Berwick, I took them to Portobello beach, as for the weeks leading up to their arrival, they had said that they both wanted to go here. The weather was slightly overcast but still nice enough to have a walk down the promenade and take pictures. They both loved Portobello, so this will certainly be a place to revisit when they come to visit again and the sun is shining bright.
As we walked past a pub on the promenade, it was noticed that they have a quiz night on shortly, so we all laughed together about what we would hypothetically call our quiz team; Team AA, Team Recovery etc and that if we won a bar tab for first prize, we would not be able to consume that much soft drink.
This made me think about the day we have had so far, how fun life is without drinking and the sober memories we are creating that we will all remember.
On the way home, my fellows wanted to stop at the supermarket to buy ingredients for some home-cooked meals. My fellow from abroad was set on visiting Tesco, as they have heard about it but had never been before. Tesco is my trigger shop, so I stuck to my plan and did not go into Tesco with them, instead, I browsed a few of the other shops around to fill the time. I did not have any issues with this and felt proud that I was sticking with my plan and not visiting Tesco.
Friendships are growing stronger every day, and meeting up with other fellows tomorrow.
Gratitude: I am grateful today for the good weather, my fellow for cooking a really nice dinner, my fellows for doing the dishes, and my fellows for the lovely company and forever memories we are creating together.
